Baseball Hall of Fame Private Videoconference Program – Hardballs and Handshakes

Program Description:
Behind the big salaries are complex negotiations between labor and management. Students compare and contrast models of resolving differences by exploring player organizations in baseball's labor history. During the videoconference, students will work with museum teachers to reinforce concepts and ideas introduced in the classroom.

  • Understand the historical impact of segregation upon the development of African American baseball. 
  • Identify a variety of laws and historical events that had an effect on the treatment of African Americans.
  • Create a time line of significant events in the history of African American baseball.
