Hi, I'm Booki Vivat!
I was born and raised in California and graduated from the University of California, San Diego (UCSD). My family is Thai and I’m the only one of us who can’t eat spicy food. I spent my childhood doodling and writing stories for fun. Before becoming an author-illustrator, I taught middle school English abroad, fell off a ladder during a very brief stint as a bookseller, and worked in children's publishing in New York City.
Now I live in Oakland, California, where I doodle a lot and make books for kids.
