Grades 3-8 | Dr. Valerie Rapson presents The Moon's Impact on Life on Earth - Dec 15, 2020 1:10pm EST
About this event:
Earth’s moon is not just a pretty sight in the sky. It actually has a strong affect on our planet. The moon creates the tides on earth, regulates Earth’s rotation rate, and may have helped with the emergence of life on Earth billions of years ago. In this lesson we’ll talk more about how the Moon affects the Earth and what life might be like (if it’s even possible) without our moon.
Dr. Valerie Rapson earned her Ph.D. in Astrophysical Sciences and Technology at the Rochester Institute of Technology. She is currently an Assistant Professor at SUNY Oneonta (formerly Chief Astronomer at Dudley Observatory).
