Grades 4-8 | Preservation Virginia presents History Detective: Piecing Together Pocahontas - May 29, 2024 1:10pm Eastern Time
About this event:
Created by Streamable Learning
Pocahontas may be the most well-known indigenous person in North America, but she personally never left any written record of it; the narratives that encircle her and captivate audiences were all written by non-indigeous people. How do we know what we know about the Powhatan princess Pocahontas, and is what we’ve been taught the truth about her? As historians, how should we approach Pocahontas’ story? Join Preservation Virginia in an exploration of different primary sources that depict the history of Pocahontas and how she’s been remembered over time.
