The Department of Entomology at the University of Arizona has an internationally renowned faculty dedicated to excellence in research, teaching, and extension. Faculty expertise encompasses fundamental insect biology, pest management, and outreach. Located in the heart of the American Southwest, the University of Arizona's Insect Collection (UAIC) contains approximately 2 million terrestrial arthropod specimens representing 24,000 species mostly from the Sonoran Desert Region and the Madrean Sky Islands, one of the most biodiverse regions of North America.

Mission Statement

Insect Discovery is a University of Arizona outreach program primarily for elementary school students. The program sparks students’ scientific curiosity through hands-on activities using live and preserved insects.
